Academic Lecture —— Recent Advances in Auditory Cognition and Computational AcousticsAuthor:Administrator Source:website Time:2025-06-14 12:00:00Presentation Time: 12:30 PM, June 14, 2025 (Saturday) Venue: Conference Room A603, School of Electronic Information, Wuhan University (Yu Gang & Song Xiao Building) Presentation Title: Recent Advances in Auditory Cognition and Computational Acoustics Speaker: Professor Qian Yanmin Inviter: Professor Huang Gongping Abstract: The development of auditory technology, represented by voice interaction, is currently a hot topic and a key focus of research. However, practical applications still face numerous difficulties and challenges. This presentation will first briefly introduce the Auditory Cognition and Computational Acoustics Laboratory at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and its key research areas. It will then provide an in-depth introduction and discussion of the laboratory's recent research progress and breakthroughs in voice interaction and auditory cognition, as well as robust acoustic signal processing. About the Speaker: Qian Yanmin is a Distinguished Professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his PhD from Tsinghua University and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He is a recipient of the Ministry of Education's Changjiang Scholars Program, the National Excellent Young Scientists Fund, and the first prize (first author) of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Natural Science Award. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the International Society for Computer Science and Engineering (ISCA). He is also one of the 13 founding members of the international open-source Kaldi speech recognition toolkit. He has served as Area Chair and TPC member for international conferences such as InterSpeech and ISCSLP, and as a reviewer for journals and international conferences such as IEEE T-ASLP, IEEE J-STSP, IEEE SPL, ICASSP, and InterSpeech. He has over 10 years of experience in research and industrialization of intelligent speech and language processing, human-computer interaction, pattern recognition, and machine learning. He has published nearly 300 academic papers in leading international journals and conferences in this field, with over 17,000 citations on Google Scholar. He has applied for over 100 patents in China and the United States, and has co-authored and translated numerous foreign books. He has won four Best Paper Awards from leading international journals and conferences in his field, and has led teams to international championships six times. He has participated as a principal investigator and key contributor in numerous projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Brain Science Program, the National Key R&D Program, the National 863 Program, and the UK EPSRC. His current research areas include speech recognition and translation, speaker and language identification, speech noise reduction and separation, music generation and understanding, speech emotion perception, multimodal and cross-modal information processing, natural language understanding, deep learning modeling, and multimedia signal processing.
