About the Speaker:

Dr. Xudong Zhao is currently conducting research on immersive audio technologies at King’s College London, UK. He received his B.Sc. (2015) and Ph.D. (2023) degrees from Northwestern Polytechnical University. From 2019 to 2021, he participated in a joint training program at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique, Energy, Materials and Telecommunications Research Center (INRS-EMT), Canada. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and King’s College London.

His research interests include acoustic signal processing, speech signal processing, microphone arrays, and immersive audio technologies. He has published more than 10 papers in journals and conferences such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, JASA, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, and ICASSP.

Abstract:

Thanks to its unique perceptual mechanism for sound fields, differential microphone arrays offer significant advantages in sound field measurement and high-fidelity audio capture. Related technologies have been widely applied in intelligent interactive systems and speech communication systems.

This presentation will introduce the latest research progress on differential microphone arrays and their applications in perceptual sound field reconstruction.
