Topic : The Use of Polarization in Wireless Sensing/Communication
Speaker : Kainam Thomas Wong(黄启南)
   Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Time : 10:00am    Tuesday, January 9,2018
Place : 303 Conference Room in Electronic and Information School

Abstract :
Radiowave communication is electromagnetic in nature, hence polarization is a critical dimension, though somewhat neglected. This talk surveys how creative exploitation of this polarizational dimension could mitigate deep fades, could aid geolocation of mobile emitters, and could advance coding technology. This talk also explores the research topics of characterizing the polarizational behaviors of antennas and of wireless channels.

About the Speaker :

Dr. Kainam Thomas Wong obtained his B.S. from UCLA, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is/was the editorial board of 4 IEEE journals, 3 IET journals, 1 AIP journal, plus other journals. His research interest includes wireless sensing, wireless communications, and sensor-array signal processing. Dr. Wong is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK).
